Scott Bredin

Born in Ixopo, KwaZulu-Natal, in 1973, Scott Bredin grew up to be a profound landscape artist with an academic background in Fine Art and Philosophy.

He completed his education at Hilton College, followed by the University of Natal, where he graduated with the highest honours, summa cum laude, in BA and cum laude in BA (Hons) and Master of Fine Arts. His thesis encompassed the intriguing interplay of 19th Century Topographical Drawing and Navigation.

Currently residing and working in Durban, Scott's art is an exploration of various landscapes—urban, industrial, rural. He masterfully translates these landscapes into metaphors through his paintings, often focusing on areas overlooked due to the human impact. His work finds beauty in desecration, restoring aesthetic meaning to spaces marked by human activities.

Scott's distinctive artwork, marked by recurring tracks across the landscapes revealing the land's structure and expressing a primal logic, has found place in public, corporate and private collections across South Africa, Canada, Switzerland, and the UK.

A recipient of multiple awards, Scott has showcased his art in exhibitions throughout South Africa.
