LANDSCAPE IMPRESSIONS

Nomsa Ngidi

Nomsa Ngidi lives and paints in the Valley of a Thousand Hills, where ancient landscapes roll endlessly toward distant horizons and morning mists reveal stories older than memory. From her village of KwaMnamatha, she captures the essence of one of KwaZulu-Natal's most evocative regions.

Her artistic journey began while working in an art gallery, where exposure to diverse works sparked her own creative calling. This led to studies with respected artists Pascale Chandler and Maggie Strachan, who helped refine her natural eye for color and composition.

Working in oils, Nomsa translates the sweeping beauty of her surroundings onto canvas with directness and warmth. Her paintings reflect an authentic connection to place - the quiet roads that wind through hills, the interplay of light and shadow across familiar valleys, the enduring rhythms of rural life.

Since becoming a full-time artist, her work has found recognition in galleries across KwaZulu-Natal, establishing her as an artist who understands that the most profound beauty often lies in the landscapes we call home.
