Born in Zimbabwe in 1973, Hugh Mbayiwa is renowned for his vibrant depictions of rural life. Inspired by his experiences teaching in Harare, his artwork is imbued with charm and humour, capturing the essence of Zimbabwe's countryside in a unique, naïve style.
Upon completing his A-levels, he pursued studies at the BAT Visual Art Studio in Harare and was invited to exhibit at the prestigious National Gallery in Zimbabwe during his final year.
Now a full-time artist, Hugh's bold and colorful works have found global recognition. He frequently hosts exhibitions at the Elizabeth Gordon Gallery in Durban, South Africa, where his work continues to grow in popularity, resonating with a broad audience for its simplicity and depth.
