Celimpilo Dlamini, born in Simunye, Swaziland, in 1983, turned his childhood interest in drawing into a life-long passion for painting.
Navigating the constraints of unavailable formal art training in Swaziland and prohibitive costs abroad, he embarked on self-education, studying art mediums, techniques, and fellow artists.
Oil on canvas is Celimpilo's preferred medium, enchanted by the potential to achieve diverse effects and the richness of color. He paints landscapes, people, and still life, not as mirroring reality, but as unique interpretations, embracing a loose, free approach that often bypasses intricate detail.
Driven by the desire to 'paint well,' Celimpilo believes beauty and mastery precede symbolism in a painting. His approach to art - to create beauty first, and then let the motivations follow - is reflected in his work.
Regularly exhibiting in Swaziland, his artwork finds a place in private and corporate collections within the country and internationally. Celimpilo currently lives and pursues his artistic journey in Mbabane.
