Barbara Siedle, the Durban born, KZN artist of our wild life illustrations, has established herself as one of our foremost watercolour artist, specialising in the field of wildlife.

Barbara’s love of the bush and interest in environmental issues takes her on many journeys throughout Southern Africa to capture subject matter for her work. Her works can be seen in many a game lodge, offices and hotels throughout Southern Africa. Her animal illustrations which are the heads of the various wild animals are very popular, especially with visitors to the country. They are not only decorative but informative too, and many a visitor leaves with some as a momento of their visit.

Barbara attended the Michaelis School of Art, UCT and then the Munich Academy of Fine Art in Germany where she studied painting and sculpture under Prof. Kirchner.

In 2014, Barbara published a book “Breathe the Dust”, which is a personal journal of her art career and travels into some of the remotest parts of Southern Africa. The book is a delightful read and is available at the Gallery.
